Longer stays

A month or more in El Poblado, Medellín

Many people in our network spend one to three months in Medellín, and some decide to stay. The first weeks are about who you meet.

The first weeks

People who stay longer usually want a few things early: people worth knowing, restaurants for dinners with new contacts, events worth going to, and real estate contacts if they are thinking about staying. Tell us what you are looking for and we introduce you to people in our network.

Where people stay

El Poblado, including Provenza and Manila, is where most people in our network live while they are here. It is also where international visitors spend the most: El Poblado accounted for 44.5% of card spending by nonresident foreigners in Medellín in the first half of 2026. Laureles is another area many longer stay visitors choose, and Envigado, just south of El Poblado, had the fastest growth in foreign card spending around Medellín.

Staying longer than 90 days

Visitors from many countries can enter Colombia for up to 90 days and extend to 180 days in a calendar year. For longer stays, Colombia's digital nomad visa (Visa V) asks for monthly income of about three Colombian minimum wages, around COP 5.25 million or US$1,400 in 2026, shown for the last three months, and allows stays of up to two years. Spending 183 days or more in Colombia in a year can make you a tax resident.

This is general information. Confirm the current rules with Cancillería or a Colombian immigration lawyer before you plan around them.
